Social Value at Excelsior

At Excelsior Panelling Systems, we are committed to delivering social value through responsible manufacturing, ethical workforce management, and sustainable operational practices.

As a UK manufacturer, we recognise our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact, support our people, and contribute positively to our wider community and supply chain.  Our approach is aligned with modern industry expectations, ISO standards, and evolving client requirements across public and private sectors.

Ethical Practices & Modern Slavery Prevention

We operate a proactive programme to mitigate modern slavery risks within our own workforce and throughout our supply chain.
Our actions include:

  • Supply chain mapping and ongoing supplier risk assessments

  • Training for employees and suppliers to identify warning signs and report concerns

  • Contract management procedures aligned with ISO 9001

  • Systematic checks during recruitment and onboarding to detect forced-labour risks, such as:

    • verifying bank account details

    • cross-checking contact information

    • reviewing next-of-kin and residency documents

    • flagging duplicate or shared emergency contact numbers

We maintain records of:

  • Supplier due diligence and risk assessments

  • Employee training and awareness activities

  • Recruitment and onboarding checks

  • Supplier and subcontractor reviews where appropriate

This ensures a consistent, transparent approach to safeguarding workers.

Environmental Sustainability & Carbon Reduction

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint across all parts of our operations.

Biomass – Carbon-Neutral Energy

We utilise biomass energy by burning factory waste to generate heat for our facility. This sustainable process helps:

  • preserve fossil fuel resources

  • reduce our carbon emissions

  • reduce our landfill waste

  • reduce heavy vehicle movements to external landfill sites

Electric Vehicles & Equipment

Where possible, we use electric cars and electric fork trucks, reducing onsite emissions and improving air quality.

Carbon Footprinting & Planning

We monitor our carbon output and incorporate:

  • emissions reduction planning

  • logistics optimisation

  • emissions-per-km recording

  • activity tracking

to support continual improvement across our operations.

Responsible Procurement & Supply Chain Development

We work with suppliers who share our values and uphold high standards of sustainability and ethics.

  • FSC-certified materials sourced locally where feasible

  • Planned and clustered deliveries to reduce transport emissions

  • Active Gold Member of the Supply Chain Sustainability School, ensuring our staff undertake ongoing training across environmental, social, and governance topics

This helps develop a more sustainable, resilient, and socially responsible supply chain.

Investing in People

Our people are at the heart of our business. We ensure:

  • fair, safe working conditions

  • ongoing training and upskilling opportunities

  • equal opportunities and inclusive recruitment practices

  • transparent communication and strong employee engagement

We aim to create long-term, secure employment within our community.
