FAQ:
What Happens After a Washroom Enquiry?
Whether you're renovating a school, designing a new office building or upgrading washrooms in a leisure centre, knowing where to start with a washroom fit-out can sometimes feel unclear. At Excelsior Panelling Systems, we’ve spent almost 50 years refining a straightforward process that takes customers from initial enquiry to completed installation.
To help explain what happens behind the scenes, we’ve answered some of the most common questions about the journey from enquiry to finished washroom system.
What happens when you first make a washroom enquiry?
Every enquiry we receive is logged into our internal system and allocated to a member of our experienced sales team.
At this stage we’ll discuss:
- The type of building or project
- Your preferred washroom system or cubicle range
- Layout considerations
- Materials, colours and finishes
- Budget and specification requirements
Because all of our ranges are bespoke, we can support a wide range of design and specification requirements. Our team are always available to offer guidance if you need help choosing the right system for your project. Check out what we offer here:
How long does it take to receive a quotation?
Our estimating team aims to provide quotations within three working days.
Accuracy and attention to detail are essential at this stage, ensuring the correct materials, specifications and quantities are included. If needed, our estimating team can also provide technical advice to help you select the most suitable product for your environment.

What happens after an order is placed?
Once an order is confirmed, the project moves to our CAD design team. They produce detailed technical drawings based on the project requirements, including:
- Dimensions
- Layouts
- Colours and finishes
- Panel configurations
These drawings are normally issued within 7–10 days and sent to the customer for approval before production begins. This step ensures everything is correct before manufacturing starts.
How are washroom systems manufactured?
Once drawings are approved, the project moves into production. At our West Midlands headquarters, our manufacturing team use a range of advanced machinery, including beam saws and CNC equipment, to produce each order to the required specification.
The process typically includes:
- Panel cutting and machining
- Edge finishing and fabrication
- Frame assembly where required
- Quality control checks
Manufacturing in-house allows us to maintain full control over quality, lead times and consistency across every project.
How are products delivered or installed?
Excelsior products are available on both a supply-only and supply-and-install basis. For installation projects, a dedicated Contracts Manager oversees the process from start to finish. Our own delivery fleet distributes products nationwide, and installation is carried out by our experienced teams.
What happens after installation?
Our relationship with customers doesn’t end when the installation is complete. We provide after-sales support to ensure everything continues to perform as expected. If any questions arise after completion, our team are always available to help.
How long does a commercial washroom project take?
The timeline for a commercial washroom project can vary depending on the size of the installation, the specification and the approval process. However, most projects follow a similar structure.
At Excelsior, we aim to keep the process efficient while ensuring quality and accuracy at every stage.
A typical timeline may look like:
-
Quotation: within approximately 3 working days
-
Technical drawings: issued within 7–10 days of order placement
-
Manufacture and delivery: From approval of drawings, our manufacturing team works to 3-4 weeks for manufacture and delivery of products.
Because all of our systems are bespoke, lead times can vary depending on project complexity. Our team will always communicate timelines clearly so customers know exactly what to expect.
A Simple, Reliable Process
From initial enquiry through to final installation, our aim is to make specifying and installing bespoke washroom systems as straightforward as possible.
With decades of experience in commercial washroom manufacturing, we understand the importance of clear communication, reliable lead times and consistent quality throughout the process. If you're planning a washroom project and would like to discuss your requirements, our team will be happy to help.
